Design Services for garden lovers

I love connecting with garden enthusiasts to create their dream garden: timeless, plant filled, and beautiful year-round.

The garden is often the last part of a property to be looked at from an aesthetic standpoint, and when this time comes it is often an overwhelming prospect. The desire for an outdoor space which reflects the values of beauty, and good design which have usually just been achieved inside the home is paramount - and can seem daunting when tackling a neglected, bare or otherwise unpromising space. Whether it is just the planting which needs to be overhauled, or a full design from concept to completion, having professional support and input can make a real difference.

The scope and scale of each individuals garden design project can vary greatly. Please get in touch to tell me about your unique project.

Planting design - plant choice for specific areas, or the full garden. Based on conditions/soil type/aspect. Right plant, right place, as well as your own style preferences. Planting design can also be a standalone service, and it is possible to do this effectively online. If you would like to know more about how this works please get in touch.

Garden planning - seasonal planning for large gardens and Estates: bulbs/bedding and pots. Maintenance schedules, and garden management plans. Tailored to available labour and goals. Planting design can also be a standalone service, and it is possible to do this effectively online. If you would like to know more about how this works please get in touch.

Consultation: in person and online

A garden consultation is a good place to start if you are looking for a birds eye view of what you could do with your outdoor space: broad strokes suggestions and advice from either a design, or horticulture perspective - or both.

A full garden design is a big step, and a big investment. It is also definitely not the only way to get started in your garden. Having some professional input to give direction, offer ideas, and help narrow down the options can leave you with a gameplan which is actionable as and when, whether by yourself or the contractor of your choice. Each consultation can be tailored to your specific needs/issues and followed up with a report detailing what was discussed and identified, leaving the client with a roadmap to follow at their own pace.

How it works - whether online or in-person I allow up to 2 hours for a consultation ( this is for small to medium gardens ) . Once booked I will send you a form to complete which will ask in detail about what you want to look at during our time together, specific areas of interest or concern, and how you use your garden currently. This is designed to provide me with a good idea of how I can help and how best to use our time together. If there is anything which isn’t covered in the form but you feel is important please don’t hesitate to let me know, and send any extra info, images or anything else which you feel is relevant by email prior to our meeting.

Horticulture Training

I love working with plantspeople to help them realise the garden, and planting of their dreams.

There is often a disconnect between what a gardener envisions for their space, and what it currently looks like. Billowing borders, seasonal colour, and year round interest can be difficult to achieve and sometimes getting a professional pair of eyes can be useful. Understanding design principles and how they apply to everyday gardening on a micro and macro level can make a big difference and I love to teach these skills to other creative gardeners. Embracing the fundamentals of right plant, right place. Zoning in on aspect, soil and site conditions, good horticultural practice, design principles, use of space, appropriate maintenance systems, propagation, pruning and any other aspect of gardening can all help you realise your vision. I will meet you where you are and support you as you evolve your own gardening skills and practice.

How it works - This is very much for hands on gardeners who want practical advice, demonstration, and troubleshooting feedback on their garden. You might want to look at a specific topic: pruning for example, or a few areas. I will send you a form by email prior to the visit which will allow you to give me in depth detail with regards to what you are hoping to achieve from our time together. If there is anything you feel wasn’t covered please don’t hesitate to email with extra details. I book this by the hour, depending on the size of your space, and what you are hoping to achieve.
